The Buffalo River is located in northern Arkansas and progresses through Newton, Searcy, Marion, and Baxter
Counties. The Buffalo River is
slightly more than 150 miles long with it's origination in the Boston Mountains region of the Ozarks. Roughly 135
miles of the Buffalo River flows within the boundaries of an area managed by the
National Park Service, where it is designated the Buffalo National
River.Along the upper reaches of the Buffalo River paddlers can find a steep gradient with most of the white water found on the Buffalo as well as some of the most dramatic scenery. At one point paddlers can climb up a 209-foot waterfall named Hemmed-In-Hollow Falls.
