Rouge River (West Michigan)Submitted by Admin on Wed, 08/05/2009 - 07:26
The Rouge River is a great stream for paddlers. The river is 42 miles long with a single dam on it in the city of Rockford, Michigan. The Rouge River finds its beginnings in a series of drainage ditches that originate from Rice Pond near Grant, Michigan and the rivers flows to it's confluence of the Grand River near Belmont, Michigan. There are two sections of the Rouge. The Upper Rouge starts just after the river gets some steam coming out of Rice Lake and this section runs primarily North to South-East until the city of Rockford. The Upper Rouge is a smaller stream that has good current to carry paddlers along. Below the city of Rockford and the Rockford Dam the river widens out and becomes a great place for paddlers to float and enjoy a fun and relaxation. Location
