The Pine River can easily be described as one of Michigan's most charming streams. Passing through miles and miles of the Manistee National Forest the Pine River energetically flows past banks that exude that Northern Michigan ambiance. The Pine River is predominantly situated in a steep valley which helps propel the stream at a good clip.

The mainstream of the Pine is approximately 49 miles long and is formed by the confluence of the North Branch and East branch of the Pine River near Tustin in Osceola County.

There are several access sites and riverside campgrounds which allow paddlers the opportunity to take short day trips or a multi-day trip.
