The Muskegon is a very large river system which covers a vast amount of drainage in the Northwest portion of Michigan. The river get's it's beginnings in Houghton Lake in central Michigan and travels approximately 234 miles before it empties into Lake Michigan. The Muskegon River down stream from Houghton Lake is one of Michigan's unsung river gems, especially a section of about 85 miles from M-55 west of Houghton Lake down to the town of Evart, is a great place for new and experienced paddlers to get their feet wet.
