The Cut River is a small river that connects Houghton Lake, Marl Lake, and Higgins Lake. The river is no more than 10 miles long but runs through some great Michigan forests and flatlands. There is also ample room for paddlesports on smaller Marl Lake but Higgins and Houghton can both be a little overcrowded on weekends with power boats.
