Campbell's Canoe LiverySubmitted by Jason on Thu, 04/16/2009 - 11:42
Campbell’s Canoe Livery is a family owned and operated outfitter which serves the South Branch of the AuSable which is one of Northern Michigan’s most scenic rivers. Campbell’s Canoe Livery offers canoe, kayak and tube rentals. They can accommodate large and small groups and have a beautiful riverside picnic area for use before or after your trip. They are open daily from the first weekend in May through the second weekend in October. Trips AvailableCampbell's to Steckert Bridge This canoe trip is perfect for families with small children and first time canoeists. The six mile trip is rich with wildlife, averages 1-3 feet deep and can be completed in approximately 1 1/2 hours. The earlier you go, the better the chance of seeing wildlife, such as ducks, beaver, mink and even an occasional eagle. Campbell's to Chase Bridge Cottage Our most popular canoe trip averages 2 1/2 - 3 hours to complete. The easy moving AuSable River travels at about 4 mph through scenic state land with some cottages and homes. You will end the trip at your vehicle, so you will not feel rushed. From Chase Bridge to Smith Bridge This 4 1/2 hour canoe trip travels 18 miles of The Mason Tract. This stretch of the river passes through a remote section of the river so wildlife and peaceful paddling abound. Overnight Canoe & Camping Trip This trip leaves from Campbell's Canoe Livery and stops about 6 hours down river at Canoe Harbor Campground. The second day you will paddle another 4 hours to McMaster's Bridge where Cambell's will pick you up.
