The Licking River is formed in eastern Kentucky and runs approximately 320 meandering miles to the northwest until it joins withe the Ohio River. The Licking River in Kentucky runs into the Ohio just outside of Cincinnati where it splits the cities of Covington, Kentucky and Newport, Kentucky.

The Licking River is a great resource for paddlesport aficionados as well as fishermen. It supports several unique fish species including: redside dace, mimic shiner, streamline chub, slender madtom, blue sucker, paddlefish, and eastern sand.
