Cumberland RiverSubmitted by Jason on Wed, 09/02/2009 - 22:24
The Cumberland River is a very large waterway in the Southern United States. It is 688 miles long and starts in Kentucky. The Cumberland River flows through both Kentucky and Tennessee before heading back into Kentucky and eventually meeting up with the mighty Ohio River outside of Smithland, Kentucky. The Cumberland Rivers headwaters are Lake Cumberland and Cumberland Falls is a glorious 68 feet high and is one of the largest waterfalls in the eastern United States. The Cumberland Falls is the only place in the whole of the Western Hemisphere where a moonbow can be seen (reference: Wikipedia). Due to the immense length of the Cumberland River the point I chose on the map is actually Cumberland Falls. There's a whole lotta river left after that point though! Location
